Ryan Armstrong Named JAIMS Global Business Programs Manager
HONOLULU- In January 2005, Ryan Armstrong was named global business programs manager at JAIMS, an institute located in Hawaii Kai that specializes in intercultural management. Armstrong is responsible for managing the Intercultural Management Program, a four-month program for business people interested in learning about Western business principles and methods. He is directly involved with curriculum development, internship placement, and program marketing. "Ryan's international experience and insight meet the unique needs of JAIMS and the participants," said Dr. Blair Odo, vice president for Academic Affairs. "He's one of our outstanding graduates, and we are fortunate to have him aboard." Prior to relocating to Honolulu from Japan, Armstrong served as manager for Japanese Government Affairs at the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan (ACCJ) where he was responsible for enhancing relationships with the government of Japan, including the Diet, ministries and business organizations. At the ACCJ, Armstrong planned and coordinated the annual Diet Doorknock, the Chamber's largest consolidated advocacy event, in which the ACCJ provided more than 80 Diet members with economic and policy recommendations from the perspective of international business organizations operating in Japan. Armstrong is a graduate of the Japan-focused MBA program, a cooperative program of JAIMS and the University of Hawaii's College of Business. He obtained a bachelor's degree in Asian studies from Colgate University in New York, completed a Japanese translation correspondence certificate course, and worked with the Japanese government in Kagawa Prefecture. |
