The ICMP 2006F Class

ICMP 2006 Fall Graduation

January 10, 2007

On January 10, 2007, the Commencement ceremony for the ICMP 2006 Fall class was held at JAIMS. The ceremony celebrated the successful culmination of an intense four-month program focusing on international business skills.

Global Business Programs Manager Ryan Armstrong gave the welcome address and congratulated the graduates, who were from Cambodia, France, India, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, and Thailand. He also thanked the host families for extending their gracious hospitality to the students.

Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Blair Odo offered words of aloha and wisdom to the graduates as they prepared for the next step in their careers.

The keynote speaker was Mr. Dave Erdman, President & CEO of PacRim Marketing Group, Inc. with offices in Honolulu and Tokyo. Mr. Erdman told of his many years of experience living and working in Asia, and how he started his own international business. He said that global businesses must be able to effectively bridge the cultural divide with the same skill that JAIMS connects careers, cultures and people. He stressed basic principles of success, positive attitude, teamwork, Kaizen (constant improvement), and networking.

After Mr. Erdman's message, Special Assistant to the President and Admissions Officer Roxanne Kam presented the class awards. The Students' Choice Award winner Roderick Enriquez gave a heart-felt address on behalf of his classmates about gratitude, friendship, and goodbyes.

Dr. Blair Odo and Vice President Mark Uchida presented diplomas to the graduates, and Director of Instructional Services & Development Dori Hirata-Fujimori thanked the ICMP "Peer Tutors" who assisted JAIMS' Japan-focused MBA students with their language studies.

After graduation, the recipients of the Fujitsu Asia Pacific Scholarship Program (FAPSP) will start a one-week field-study in Japan, and the Business Exchange Program (BEP) participants will begin their two-month internships in Hawaii and cities across the U.S. mainland.
