CHEMBA Program To Be Discontinued
Dear JAIMS alumni and friends,
The University of Hawaii at
Manoa Shidler College of Business and JAIMS have issued a press
release announcing a change in the partnership between our
two institutions. We
want you to know about the change and what it means to JAIMS.
The JEMBA program will continue as a partnership program with
the Shidler College of Business but in a new format. It will
be a 20 month program that will culminate with the 3-month internship
in Japan. Graduation will be in the spring term of the second
year.
Regrettably, the CHEMBA program will be discontinued after the
2006-2007 school year due to the Shidler College’s offering
of the China International MBA program starting in the fall of
2007 with a new partner.
Our support of and connection with our CHEMBA graduates will not
change. The JAIMS bond is a strong and robust network that
all JAIMS graduates can continue to rely upon regardless of adjustments
in programs or business models.
While we are sad to see the CHEMBA program end, we are extremely
happy about opportunities that are being considered as JAIMS evolves. As
noted by interim president Akikusa, JAIMS is developing a new
China-focused Management curriculum.
JAIMS is a leader in global management education because of its
short-term, practice-based programs; global best practices focus;
quality student services; strategic location in Hawaii; culturally
diverse population; and the culminating internship. These
strengths will continue to be components of our new initiatives.
This
is truly an exciting time for JAIMS. In July 2006, we were
honored by the Japan Minister of Foreign Affairs for promoting
good relations between the United States and Japan through our
mission, programs and activities. Seven organizations were
honored worldwide, and JAIMS was one of only two in the United
States.
As we look toward our 35th anniversary homecoming celebration
in July 2007, we reaffirm our commitment to developing
the Asia-Pacific region by educating effective international leaders. We
know we can count on you for your continuing support.
Sincerely,
Blair M.T. Odo, Ph.D. Vice President for Academic Affairs
